Cuban President Diaz-Canel salutes creation of State Security Corps

Havana, Mar 26 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Sunday congratulated the workers of State Security Corps (OSE) on the occasion of its 64th anniversary.

On his Twitter account, the head of State pointed out that “the best tribute to the heroes and heroines of the State Security corps is this day of sovereign electoral exercise,” referring to the national elections to vote for the lawmakers to the National People’s Power Assembly (Parliament).

Vice President Salvador Valdes also saluted the creation of the corps and “its seasoned and faithful combatants who have ensured, together with the people, the integrity and protection of the Revolution.”

Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, in turned, acknowledged the outstanding work they do, and described its members as anonymous heroes and faithful guardians of the Cuban social process.

The OSE was founded in the first months after the Triumph of the Revolution (January 1, 1959) by indication from the historic leader, Fidel Castro, to counter the US Government’s growing aggressiveness against Cuba.
