Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, Mar 24 (Prensa Latina) We are living very difficult times, but under these circumstances this country usually grows, parliamentary candidate Rosa Miriam Elizalde, from Trinidad municipality, said on Friday.

In an interview with the Escambray newspaper, the first vice president of the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC) talked about her experiences at the meetings with the voters, together with Yudit Elena Brunet, an educator at the Tierno Amanecer childcare center, and Osdany de la Caridad Perez, president of the Pedro Lantigua Agricultural Production Cooperative.

Regarding the today’s situation, she stressed that we are going to move forward and do better than the previous version, that is what we believe will happen in Parliament. Better Is Possible is a campaign concept that considers all that.

The PhD in Communications Sciences said that she advocates for a Parliament that is less unanimous and debates more.

She added that we all want the best for the nation and we are in a position to contribute to the construction of a prosperous country, where justice and equality prevail as values that will never be renounced.

When referring to the candidates to integrate the National People’s Power Assembly, she pointed out that less than 50 percent are grassroots delegates and the rest were nominated by provincial and national social and mass organizations.

The reason for this composition, she added, is explained because this legislative body corresponds, among other functions, to approve laws and it needs people who know from various fields to complement one another.

Regarding her proposal to integrate the candidacy, it is a privilege and a great responsibility, we will have to participate in the debates actively, never dissociate ourselves from the community, or ignore the problems, people have to feel represented.

The intellectual, who has a multi-award-winning work, highlighted the spirit of resilience and the values of Cubans in difficult times, the unjust blockade by the United States and the escalation of the current US administration that welcomes the political opportunism of Donald Trump.

Add to this the feeling of anguish due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the economic crisis and the situation in Europe, but we Cubans know that complex moments come out, we have experience: we made three vaccines against Covid-19, the power generation situation has stabilized and tourism continues to develop.
