President of China to visit Russia from March 20th to the 22nd

Moscow, Mar 17 (Prensa Latina) Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold a state visit to Russia between March 20th and 22nd at the invitation of his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, the Kremlin press service reported.

According to the statement released this Friday in the Russian capital, the leaders “will discuss current issues of the future development of comprehensive partnership relations and strategic cooperation between the two countries.”

“An exchange of views is planned in the context of deepening Russian-Chinese cooperation on the international scene,” Moscow said. In addition, the Kremlin also specified that “a series of important bilateral documents will be signed” during the visit of the Chinese leader.

Xi Jinping was re-elected to his third five-year term as China’s president in early March. Putin assured in a congratulatory message that Moscow and Beijing would continue to coordinate on key subjects.

President Putin also expressed his confidence that both he and Xi Jinping will ensure the increase of cooperation between both nations, in a wide range of fields.

In turn, the spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Wenbin, said, on Friday, that the upcoming visit of President Xi Jinping to Russia will serve as a new impulse for the development of relations between Beijing and Moscow. “This trip will help promote strategic cooperation and practical interaction between Russia and China, and create new momentum for the development of relations between the two countries,” the spokesperson said.

Wang Wenbin added that the visit will be for peace, because Beijing intends to play a constructive role in settling the crisis in Ukraine, taking an objective position on it, to promote peace talks.
