Three months after taking over power again, Netanyahu has not yet received an official invitation from the Democratic administration of Joe Biden, amid press reports about a growing unease in Washington over Tel Aviv’s policies.
After receiving requests from several ministers to travel to the United States, Netanyahu denied that possibility on Tuesday.
Channel 12 reported that “Ron Dermer, who serves as a quasi-emissary of the premier,” was the only official authorized to travel to that nation.
During his previous terms in office, the Israeli head of Government has maintained close ties with the Republican Party, especially with former President Donald Trump.
Although they are historic allies, Washington has raised the tone against Tel Aviv in recent months due to the increase in attacks on Palestinians and the illegal construction of housing for settlers in the occupied territories.
