The Syrian leader arrived in Moscow on Tuesday night with a delegation of politicians and military officers, landing at the Vnukovo airport.
Deputy Foreign Minister and Presidential Envoy for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov, Syrian Ambassador to Moscow Bashar Jaafari and Russia’s diplomatic representative in Syria, Alexander Yefimov, attended the reception.
As part of his official stay in Moscow, Al-Assad plans to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a reassurance of the ties of friendship and strategic association between the two states, official sources reported.
According to the Kremlin press service, the topics of the high-level exchange could be focused on the follow up of trade relations, military alliance and security with Syria.
Putin and Al-Assad previously held a meeting in September 2021, when the Syrian president visited Moscow.
