Solidarity groups in Gijon, Asturias, reported on Monday that a rally took place in Plaza de Italia to denounce the US economic blockade and as a support to the campaign “Tons of powdered milk for Cuba, tons of solidarity against the US blockade.”
The campaign has so far raised 20,000 euros; and aims to reach 60,000 in Spain.
Mercedes López, a Cuban resident in Asturias and representative of the solidarity organizations, stressed that they are “tons of love turned into powdered milk, to break the crime against humanity which they consider as genocidal, dictatorial, tyrannical, and imperial blockade against Cuba”.
She also stressed that we should “strengthen solidarity bonds between the Spanish sisters and brothers, and the fulfillment of the duty of the associations of revolutionary Cuban residents abroad, given that it is the union of love for the same objective.”
The State Coordinating Committee of Solidarity with Cuba (CESC) of Madrid issued a press release after four months when the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly condemned the US blockade against Cuba.
