We appreciate the immediate sending of planes with aid and rescuers’ teams to help us overcome this terrible experience, Al-Mekdad said after welcoming an Iranian delegation headed by Abbas Kalro, Vice Chairman of the Iranian-Syrian Parliamentary Friendship Association, at the Iranian Islamic Shura Council, in this capital.
According to the foreign minister, the impact of the war Syria has been facing for 12 years and the destruction left behind by terrorist groups has weakened the State’s ability to cope with such a humanitarian catastrophe.
The diplomat condemned the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States and its European allies that prevented the arrival of humanitarian aid, search and rescue equipment and supplies.
Parliament Speaker Hammoudeh Sabbagh also received the Iranian delegation.
Sabbagh, on behalf of the Syrian people, thanked Tehran’s solidarity in alleviating the effects of the human tragedy due to the devastating earthquakes.

Siria agradece a Irán por su apoyo ante terremotos
Damasco, 2 mar (Prensa Latina) El ministro de Asuntos Exteriores de Siria, Faisal Al-Mekdad, manifestó hoy gratitud a Irán por su apoyo en el proceso de respuesta a secuelas de los terremotos que sacudieron esta nación en febrero.
Apreciamos el envío inmediato de aviones de ayuda y equipos de rescatistas para apoyarnos a superar esta terrible experiencia, dijo el canciller durante su recibimiento en esta capital a una delegación iraní encabezada por Abbas Kalro, vicepresidente de la Asociación de Amistad Irán-Siria en el Consejo Shura Islámico.
Según denunció el ministro, el impacto de la guerra que enfrenta Siria durante 12 años y la destrucción dejada por los grupos terroristas debilitaron la capacidad del Estado a enfrentar tal catástrofe humanitaria.
Condenó las medidas coercitivas unilaterales impuestas por Estados Unidos y sus aliados europeos que impidieron la llegada de ayuda humanitaria, equipos y suministros de búsqueda y rescate.
La delegación persa fue recibida también por el presidente del Parlamento, Hammoudeh Sabbagh, quien en nombre del pueblo sirio agradeció la solidaridad de Teherán para paliar los efectos de la tragedia humana como consecuencia de los devastadores terremotos.
