The meeting between both leaders was held in a warm atmosphere, as part of the strengthening of relations between Cuba and Azerbaijan, diplomatic sources reported.
The Cuban Vice President arrived in Baku last Monday to participate in the summit, which will address the recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic, a health crisis that occupied most of the activity in Azerbaijan as the head of the rotating presidency of the Movement.
The summit will follow up on the one held online on May 4th, 2020, under the slogan “United against Covid-19”, in which Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel intervened.
The participants approved a declaration entitled “United against Covid-19 pandemic”, which expressed the determination of the Non-Aligned to make an effective contribution to international efforts in addressing the unprecedented effects of the health emergency.
The document called for “a global response based on unity, solidarity and renewed multilateral cooperation.”
