Pardo Guerra noted the remarkable rise in the climate change and disaster impacts which underscore vulnerabilities and perils particularly in developing countries.
In this regard, Pardo Guerra reaffirmed his country´s cooperation with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 implementation.
The Cuban representative also stressed Cuba, which has faced a great number of disaster situations, has managed to develop a risk reduction management strategy.
We have shared our experiences in protecting people’s lives from impact of disasters with other developing countries including our Caribbean brothers and sisters as part of South-South cooperation, he added.
Rescue groups from Latin America and the Caribbean have been involved in training courses provided by Cuba at the regional Fire and Rescue Training Center.
In his speech, Pardo Guerra expressed his deepest condolences to Syrian and Türkiye people ahead of material losses caused by life-threatening earthquake last February 7.
