Cuba convenes virtual conference against military bases

Havana, Feb 22 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) on Wednesday called to participate in a virtual conference to denounce the military bases of the United States and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

The action will take place on February 23, starting at 09:00 hours, local time, on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the imposition of the US naval base in the eastern Cuban province of Guantanamo, despite the rejection of the Cuban Government and people.

Cubans participate in this call with the special motivation of demanding the return of that territory, which became the first US base outside its national territory.

The call invites all those interested in the defense of peace and the people’s sovereignty to participate with the hashtags #DevuelvanGuantanamoYa and for the messages in English #ReturnGuantanamotoCubaNow.

With this initiative, ICAP joins the call from the World Peace Council that every year promotes the implementation of different actions worldwide to express strong international rejection of military bases on foreign soil.
