On World Day of Social Justice, Houngbo explains why a greater emphasis on social justice is essential for a sustainable recovery, and why we need a Global Coalition for Social Justice to ensure that the necessary measures and actions are integrated throughout all levels of policy-making.

In this context, he announced ILO’s intention to launch a global coalition for social justice in 2023 so as to guarantee promotion of and access to decent work, labor rights, social protection and social dialogue.

The meeting was attended by academics and politicians to discuss how to mitigate inequalities, to address multiple global challenges and equity deficits, as well as to propose concrete actions to achieve the goals set, ILO said.

Houngbo laid stress on the pressing need to create global momentum and foster partnership to contribute to reducing and preventing inequalities, as well as to guarantee social justice is prioritized for national and global policies.
