Bastrikin said that Russia is gathering and recording evidence of Ukraine’s violation of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Storage of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxic Weapons and Their Destruction.
He stated that the main source of proofs to date is the data obtained by the Defense Ministry of Russia in the context of the Special Military Operation, as well as the results of operative search activities.
Igor Kirilov, head of the NBC branch of the Russian Armed Forces, had stated that there was a network of over 30 biological laboratories in Ukraine, whose organizer was the US Defense Department.
According to the report, work was done in three main directions: vigilance of biological situation, selection and transfer of strains and biological material, including those obtained from the army, and the investigation into possible agents as biological weapons, specific to the region.
Several thousand serum samples from patients, mainly of Slavic ethnic origin, were taken to the U.S. Army’s Walter Reed Research Institute.
