According to the FSB, the terrorists planned to use an improvised explosive device and incendiary mixtures to explode fuel and lubricant tanks at a chemical industry enterprise in the Kaluga region.
It was also known that the individuals had sworn loyalty to the Islamic State, and after committing the crime they had planned to enter armed conflict zones in the Syrian Arab Republic, the FSB added.
During their detention, the individuals had put up armed resistance and in return fires they received wounds that ended their lives. There were no casualties among law enforcement personnel or civilians.
A laboratory for the manufacturing of explosives, a prepared high-powered improvised explosive device, devices with incendiary mixtures, firearms and ammunitions were discovered at their secret place of accommodation.
