According to information from the referred center, two strong 3.4 and 5.2-magnitude aftershocks occurred, the first 50 kilometers northwest of Latakia and the second 61 kilometers west of Idlib.

Residents left their homes and took to the avenues and squares, fearing the repeating of the same scenario of the devastating earthquake that shook the country on February 6.

On Thursday, a 4.7-magnitude aftershock on the Richter scale was registered in Latakia, whose population also felt 44 light seisms since Wednesday.

Early February 6, two above 7.0-magnitude earthquakes shook Türkiye and Syria, leaving tens of thousands of dead and injured, and a huge devastation.

More than 200 aftershocks have shaken the region.

Scientists say aftershocks could continue not just for days but for months or even years.
