The highest number of people affected was recorded in Jorog, a city in the southeastern province of Alton Badakhstan, where an avalanche killed 13 people and injured 12 others. Also four houses were destroyed, and 34 others were partially damaged, TVS reported.
Meanwhile, one more person died, and another is reported missing following a snow slide in the Vanj district. A driver traveling on the Dushanbe-Varzob road was killed due to an avalanche.
State Emergency Committee spokeswoman Umeda Yusufi warned that the risk of snow avalanches will remain until February 19, according to weather forecasts.
