The detainees from Raymon, Ofer, Megiddo, Gilboa, and Negev jails launched a campaign of disobedience this Wednesday, which includes boycotting security controls, the Palestinian Prisoners Club reported in a communiqué.
The protest was launched at Nahfa Prison on Tuesday, where authorities adopted measures such as cutting off hot water supply during winter.
The Prisoners’ Higher Emergency Committee, which groups members of all Palestinian factions, approved the campaign in response to the punitive actions announced by Israel’s National Security Minister, far-right politician Itamar Ben-Gvir.
More than 4,700 Palestinians are behind bars in Israeli prisons, according to official sources.
