Our approaches match with those of our Hungarian partners, as we both reject arms supplies to the conflict zone and we are in favor of a peaceful solution, Aleinik told the BelTA news agency.

The Belarusian foreign minister recalled his country pays special attention to what is happing in Ukraine, and his country offered to host peace talks in 2022.

“Belarus has been offering such an opportunity on a permanent basis since 2014. I would like to confirm we are set to continue this practice. Belarus is always open to the world,” Aleinik stressed.

Minister Szijjarto, on the other hand, noted that the most important mission right now is to save lives, and for such a reason it is critical to stop the conflict, declare a truce and to start a peace solution.

Szijjarto emphasized that without these two points there will be no peace in Ukraine, and regretted at the same time that “military rhetoric is getting louder and louder.”

He also expressed his fear of long hostilities and stressed that the international world community should not make statements that could prolong the conflict or aggravate it.

He detailed that Hungary is feeling the impact of the conflict on a daily basis, in the form of more than one million refugees arriving from Ukraine, double-digit inflation and energy prices that “skyrocketed.”

Szijjarto recalled that he called for Belarus to do everything possible to achieve peace in Ukraine and prevent further escalation.
