Russian air defense shoots down nine drones over Bryansk province

Moscow, Feb 9 (Prensa Latina) The governor of the Russian province of Bryansk on the border with Ukraine, Alexander Bogomaz, reported that the air defense shot down nine drones full with explosives, launched by the Ukrainian military against energy facilities.

As Bogomaz published on his Telegram channel, the defense in the municipality of Starodub repelled the attack and the UAVs were destroyed without causing casualties or material damage.

Since Russia launched its special military operation in Ukraine last February, several border provinces, including Bryansk, have been under a yellow alert against terrorist threats and regularly report artillery strikes and drone attacks from the Ukrainian side.

The yellow alert provides certain restrictions on movement, vehicle inspections and orders for possible evacuation to safe areas.

Airports in a number of cities in the central and southern European part of Russia have been closed since February 24th.
