“This crime lengthens the long list of those executed by the occupants against our people,” said the governor of Jericho, Jihad Abu Al-Assal, who called on the international community to intervene immediately to protect the Palestinians.
He explained that numerous military troops assaulted the camp at dawn, causing the outbreak of violent confrontations.
Israeli army informed that the five deceased were allegedly members of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas). According to this version, the soldiers surrounded a house where two of them were hiding, but they wee received with shots fired from other positions, which led to a larger-scale firefight.
“This new massacre will fuel the resistance of our people,” said Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem, while Islamic Jihad spokesman for the West Bank, Tariq Ezz El-Din, said they will continue the fight against the occupation. The Palestinian factions condemned the incident and promised a response.
