Voting is underway in six zones and five special districts of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region (SNNP); so far, there are no irregularities, the entity’s notification points out.
It also states that “voters are directly participating in a democratic process in Konso, South Omo, Wolaita, Gamo, Gedeo and Gofa zones, as well as the special districts of Burji, Basketo, Ale, Amaro and Derashe.”
In Debub Omo Zone, the referendum is being held in 428 polling stations, while in the Jinka constituency, there are 24 polling stations, adds the note from the electoral body.
The Board recently announced that more than three million SNNP citizens are registered to participate in the referendum, and 3,752 polling stations have been set up.
