The platform described the act allegedly committed by Vitelhomme gang members as criminal and reaffirmed the government’s request to deploy international troops to confront with and halt gangs operating nationwide.
On Saturday night, a group of armed men attacked the sub-commissariat by using heavy machinery and vandalizing premises, a police source confirmed.
The attack happened hours after Police Director Frantz Elbé announced Operation Tornado 1 to curb insecurity and gang actions.
Elbé assured measures will be taken to reinforce police stations and specialized units with logistics and weapons, as well as adopting other measures to support law enforcement officers to crack down on organized crime.
Elbé acknowledged Haiti is currently going through a hard situation and local police officers are being targeted by gangs. He, however, insisted that the solution to these problems does not lie in violence but in unity.
