The conclusions of the OPCW Investigation and Identification Team (IIT)’s report on the alleged chlorine use incident in Douma lack scientific and objective evidence, the Foreign Ministry stated in a communiqué.
It added that no sane person can reach misleading conclusions and proves once again the integrity of the Syrian position that always claimed that the OPCW reports lack credibility.
The text noted that the report’s authors neglected the objective observations presented by the organization’s state parties, experts, academics, and former OPCW inspectors, known for their experience and knowledge, which reaffirmed that this incident was fabricated.
According to the communiqué, Damascus and many other countries have always questioned the legitimacy of the Investigation and Identification Team, which was established without a legal framework at the initiative of the United States, the United Kingdom, and France.
The Foreign Ministry called on all States and the United Nations to assume their responsibilities to preserve the OPCW’s independence, credibility, and future.
