Upon condemning the looting of properties in the district, UN Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan Peter Van der Auweraert said that to eradicate impunity, the national government must bring the perpetrators of such crimes to justice.

The attacks on humanitarian employees put the food security of thousands of vulnerable people at risk. They need those resources, provided by the world organization in this nation, in order to survive, Van der Auweraert warned.

In South Sudan, where violence has recently spiked, nine aid workers were killed last year, and three more have been killed this year, the UN stated.

After seceding from Sudan in 2011, South Sudan, where there is a coalition Executive, suffered a devastating civil war in which thousands were killed, as warring factions divided along ethnic lines.
