Lula to Argentina on first trip after becoming president

Buenos Aires, Jan 22 (Prensa Latina) Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva arrives today in Argentina, on his first official visit abroad after taking office as head of state on January 1st.

According to the agenda, Lula will attend on Monday morning the traditional wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument to the Liberator General Jose de San Martin, in the square that bears his name.

Later, he will meet with his Argentine counterpart, Alberto Fernandez, at the Casa Rosada, where they will sign, together with ministers from different portfolios, agreements for cooperation in energy sovereignty, financial integration, defense, health, science, technology, innovation and Antarctic cooperation.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both will hold a press conference to communicate the basic guidelines of the agreements signed and a joint statement.

After a lunch at the Eva Peron hall, at around 15:00 they will attend the inauguration of a business forum at the Bicentennial Museum.

In addition, they will hold a meeting with members of human rights organizations.

On Tuesday, they will participate at the 7th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, which will mean the return of Brazil to the bosom of this continental bloc after former President Jair Bolsonaro removed it in 2020.

The spokesperson of the Argentine Presidency, Gabriela Cerruti, assured that this is a historic visit, which generates much optimism and expectation, since it will bring about an important change in bilateral relations.
