The man was 22-years-old when he was arrested and sentenced in January 1983 to life imprisonment, later commuted to 40 years.
According to Israeli radio station Arutz Sheva, the police summoned his family and warned them that they would not tolerate any celebrations or Palestinian flags, which the far-right government in Tel Aviv has banned from public spaces.
Two weeks ago, his cousin was also released after serving 4 decades in prison for participating in the same operation.
