CubaCoop First Vice President Miguel Quintero, and the general secretary of its Armor Committee (Brittany region), Michel Le Magoarou, will represent the association at the meeting, scheduled from January 24 to 28 in Havana, where they will share the experiences accumulated in more than a quarter of a century of support for Cuba.
The delegation’s agenda will include, in addition to participating in the Conference, the presentation of a paper on cooperation and action in Europe against the economic, commercial and financial blockade that the United States has imposed on Cuba for more than six decades.
In this regard, Quintero will brief participants on a recently delivered petition to the European Parliament, which includes the demand for immediate measures at the institutional and governmental levels in the continent to combat Washington’s blockade and its extraterritorial nature.
The demand was launched by CubaCoop, the State Movement of Solidarity with Cuba in Spain, the Italy-Cuba National Friendship Association and the Swedish-Cuban Solidarity Association, with demands such as the designation of banks in the Member States of the European Union to execute financial transactions with Cuba.
The French association, created in 1995, expressed high expectations for the participation in the Havana meeting, which offers the opportunity to interact with organizations and people concerned about the world situation and the danger it represents for the survival of the human species.
According to organizers, the 5th International Conference for the Balance of the World is a space for plural and multidisciplinary thinking to help sensitize world public opinion about the ills that afflict humanity and the need to act together immediately.
The forum will commemorate the 170th birthday of Cuban National Hero Jose Marti (1853-1895), who left a legacy of values ranging from independence and peace to unity and harmony with nature.
