In his Twitter account, the president alluded to his speech at the last session of the year of the Council of Ministers, where he called to join efforts in reversing economic difficulties and the ongoing situation of the Caribbean nation, despite the obstacles caused by the intensification of the blockade imposed by the United States.
‘The day-to-day life of Cubans in 2022 has been very hard, and it is the day-to-day life of a third year already, because we are living a complex situation since the second half of 2019,’ said the head of state in the main governing body of the Caribbean archipelago.
Díaz-Canel addressed the main concerns of the citizenship, in particular the take-off of the socialist state enterprises, the elimination of obstacles and prohibitions that hinder development and the provision of better care for people in vulnerable situations.
He indicated that there must be an effective fight against crime, corruption and illegalities, as well as the laws must be respected and the issues approved by the National Assembly of People’s Power, must be followed up.
According to the Presidency of the Republic on its website, the head of state urged to take into account the consensus and participation of the people in making decisions, the usage of science and innovation in solving problems and to carry out a democratic exercise of the people’s power.
He explained that it is up to the Communist Party of Cuba to ‘act with awareness on the needs that exists and to be the most efficient catalyst in our transformation’.
As priority tasks for the coming year, the governor highlighted food production, following up on the commitments of recent international tours, the macroeconomic stabilization program, the modernization of the banking system, the collection of remittances and the increase of tourism.
