The analysis took place in connection with the meeting between the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, Le Minh Hoan, and the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Lao, Phet Phomphhiphak, in which they also reviewed cooperation during the 2017-2021 period.

The officials agreed that both countries should intensify their collaboration plan, with emphasis on the training of human resources, technical support, the exchange of experts and the promotion of aid projects from Vietnam to Laos.

They further noted that in order to strengthen trade and investment ties, the parties should promote connectivity in agriculture between their companies, hold frequent exchanges, and establish a joint agricultural business association.

Minh Hoan, for his part, suggested strengthening ties in cross-border management of natural resources to increase afforestation, combat illegal deforestation and control cross-border trade in timber and wildlife.

The Vietnamese minister was also received on Wednesday by the Laotian Prime Minister, Phankham Viphavanh, who thanked Vietnam for the assistance provided in the restoration of farmland, irrigation and rice cultivation techniques, greatly helping the national agricultural development.
