The Ministry issued a statement revealing that the meeting was also attended by the heads of intelligence services of the two countries as well as by Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu.
The talks, as reported by Syria’s news agency SANA, addressed the situation in Syria, the issue of refugees and efforts to combat terrorism.
The need and importance of continuing the dialogue for the benefit of stability in Syria and the entire region was also stressed upon.
This is the first official meeting held between Damascus and Ankara since relations were completely severed in early 2012.
The meeting took place amid accusations by Syria against Türkiye of occupying parts of its territory and supporting illegal armed groups in the north of the country.
