The Syrian Tree´s design is unique and gives a message of love, peace and creativity during the Christmas holidays, the artist said at a ceremony that included musical recitals in several languages performed by the Mar Ephrem Al-Syriani choir.
Ali explained that her work was based on a simple idea of six steel wires on which 50 doves were placed in an upwardly aligned manner and converge at an illuminated point.
She sought to have the tree made of doves as a symbol of the Syrian who carries peace in his heart. We, Syrians, have been brought up with many values and customs that have made us a people of love and peace, she said.
According to the creator, the tree was illuminated in blue so that the person looking at it feels as if he or she is in a beautiful blue dream that takes them to a peaceful magical world.
The doves on the tree were used in two art exhibitions held earlier in the cities of Damascus and Aleppo under the title “once upon a time,” and their aim is to bring life back to war-torn places.
