Moscow, Dec 16 (Prensa Latina) The InteRussia program for young journalists from Latin America concluded in this capital on Friday after four weeks of lectures and debates on current trends and challenges in this profession.

The internship project allowed 10 participants to attend lectures and workshops given by leading experts from the Sputnik news agency, the organizer of this initiative together with the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund.

Through the activities developed in the last month, which included an approach to Russian history and culture, journalists from Cuba, Ecuador, Argentina, Mexico, Peru, Nicaragua, Colombia, and Brazil learned about the work of this media outlet and its insertion in social networks such as Telegram.

In addition, they were able to learn more about the causes and characteristics of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, and how the press from Western nations reports on these events.

The program, entitled Russia and Latin America: New Points of Convergence, included visits to important academic centers, the Primakov Readings International Forum, and the exchange of experiences on existing practices and productive routines in different journalistic organizations.

InteRussia provided the opportunity to establish alliances between Latin American media and Moscow-based organizations, such as memorandums of cooperation signed by TV BRICS and the Prensa Latina news agency, and the news website Brasil 247, and by Sputnik with the websites El Soberano, from Mexico, and Ahora San Juan, from Argentina.

Gabriel Saquilan, who works in the latter, told Prensa Latina that taking part in this initiative was a special opportunity, resulting in many experiences from the journalistic point of view, together with the experience of spending this time in Moscow and learning a little more about Russian culture first-hand

“The relationship made with other Latin American colleagues is also of great value. We hope that all this will allow us to keep in touch, and new projects will be generated, he said.

At the closing ceremony of the program, held at the Gorchakov Fund headquarters on Friday, all participants expressed their gratitude to the organizers and emphasized that the experience in this capital was a great opportunity for professional and personal growth.

The deputy executive director of the institution, Daria Lobanova, said that such a representative delegation from Latin America traveling to Russia for this event, at a time when information is the key to the world and to peace, was very significant.
