On its Twitter account, Argentina’s Foreign Ministry recalled that today marks the 57th anniversary of Resolution 2065 of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

In this document, the UNGA acknowledges the existence of a dispute between Argentina and the United Kingdom over those territories and urges both States to negotiate a peaceful solution to the conflict.

It also indicates that the British presence on these islands is a form of colonialism that must end.

It also calls to abide by Resolution 1514, which indicates that every attempt to break the unity and the territorial integrity of a country is incompatible with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and compromises world peace and cooperation.

At a number of international forums, the Argentine Government has expressed its will to reestablish dialogue on this issue, but the UK refuses to sit down at the negotiation table.

On the other hand, Buenos Aires has denounced constant drills carried out by the British military on the islands, which pose a danger for regional stability.
