She commented that the attempts of western countries to politicize the discussion, punish Russia within the context of the Ukrainian situation and interrupt the adoption of the document, have not only failed but also clearly showed the true intentions of the West.

According to the diplomat, despite the West´s unprecedented pressure on UN member States, the result shows the attempts to question the results of WWII.

It warns of the unacceptability of the desire to falsify history, to justify war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Nazis and their allies, as well as their collaborators.

The resolution expressed its outrage over the demonstrations and processions to glorify those who fought alongside the Nazis or those who collaborated with them, Zakharova added.

She condemned the glorification of Nazism, neonazism and all practices that lead to an escalation of the contemporary forms of racism, xenophobia and other expressions of bigotry.

On Dec. 15, Russia presented the resolution in New York at the plenary of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly. It received 120 votes in favor, 50 against and 10 abstentions.
