The conversation was a continuation of both officials’ meeting in Samarkand, the second largest city in Uzbekistan after Tashkent, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit.
During the talks, the Indian prime minister reiterated his call for dialogue and diplomacy as the only way forward in the context of the current conflict in Ukraine.
Modi briefed Putin on India’s presidency of the Group of 20 (G-20), highlighting its important priorities, and expressed his desire that the two countries work together in that forum of the world’s largest economies and the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The two leaders also agreed to keep regular contacts.
