According to the source, Odeh met with Guterres and detailed the situation Arabs are facing in Israel, where at least 103 people have been killed so far this year.
Odeh, who is the chairman of the Hadash and Ta’al coalition of Arab parties, warned that the next Israeli government, composed of several openly racist figures, is a danger to their community.
Odeh also told Guterres that Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, does not represent Arab citizens.
The community has experienced an increase in violence in recent years, driven mainly by organized crime, amid criticism of the passivity of the police in dealing with the problem.
High unemployment rates, poverty and other social necessities are also causes of this problem, according to several studies.
