Mexico expects 10 million pilgrims in Our Lady of Guadalupe’s feast

Mexico, Dec 9 (Prensa Latina) The Government of Mexico City informed on Friday that around 10.5 million pilgrims are expected to visit, in the coming days, the famous Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe to worship her.

It will be the first mass pilgrimage after two years without celebrations due to the restrictions imposed to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic.

Parishioners and pledge payers across Mexico and globally are already arriving in the surrounding area of the church.

With a record of up to 15 million visitors, the Guadalupe sanctuary in the Gustavo A. Madero borough of Mexico City is the second most visited after St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City, in Rome.

With almost three days left for the procession, this weekend’s reports predict that some 6,000 parishioners will try to enter the Basilica.

Claudia Sheinbaum, head of Mexico City’s Government, assured that they would guarantee the integrity and safety of all believers.

We are expecting many churchgoers this year. In 2022, the Basilica was not open and held a special limited devotion to her.
