Unemployment in India reached its highest rate in three-months.

New Delhi, Dec 2 (Prensa Latina) India's unemployment rate rose to 8 percent in November, the highest in three months, as reported on Friday by the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE).

November figures showed that unemployment rate in urban areas was higher than in rural regions, reaching 8.96 percent in cities while it was 7.55 percent in the countryside.

On October, the country’s joblessness rate was 7.21 percent in urban regions and 8.04 percent in rural areas.

India’s unemployment parameter stood at 7.77 percent in October.

The CMIE keeps account on unemployment rate in India so as to provide estimates of the country’s workforce.
