Phnom Penh, Nov 28 (Prensa Latina) Fernando Gonzalez, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), on Monday wound up in Phnom Penh on a tour of Asian nations that previously took him to Laos and Vietnam.

On his second and last day in this capital, Cheam Yeap, first vice president of the Cambodian Parliament, received Gonzalez, who is a lawmaker at the National People’s Power Assembly (ANPP) in Cuba.

Yeap reiterated his country’s willingness to strengthen ties in all spheres with Cuba.

The Cambodian lawmaker recalled the valuable aid received by this Southeast Asian nation from Cuba at difficult times and praised the brotherhood that has invariably characterized the ties between the two countries.

Gonzalez thanked Cambodia for its solidarity in the battle to end the economic, financial, and commercial blockade that successive United States Governments have maintained and reinforced for over six decades and in other causes defended by Cubans.

Later, the Hero of the Republic of Cuba met with Hong Thol, deputy head of the Foreign Relations Commission of the People’s Party of Cambodia, who recalled his visit to Havana in 2019 and highlighted the historical links of that organization with the Communist Party of Cuba.

The ICAP president arrived in Phnom Penh on Sunday, when he met with the Cambodia-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group Chairwoman Nin Saphon.

Nin ratified her country’s conviction to accompany the Cubans in their battle for the unconditional end of the US blockade.
