In statements broadcasted by the state news agency ACNC, the minister reiterated that stability in the region depends first on the end of intimidating military actions against North Korea.
Choe also considered the attitude of the United Nations Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, deplorable for his criticism of Pyongyang’s reaction to the increase in military actions against the DPRK, and regretted his position on the issue, which, she said, is similar to that of a member of the White House or the State Department.
“Guterres forgets the principles of the UN Charter and the assumed mission of maintaining impartiality, objectivity and equality in the treatment of all problems,” the Minister said.
She considers that Guterres knows that the crisis is caused by the successive nuclear war exercises of a provocative nature carried out throughout the year by the joint forces led by the United States.
Further she said that Guterres allowed the use of the UN Security Council for Washington and its allies’ pressures against Pyongyang in questioning North Korea’s exercise of sovereignty.
“Pyongyang took the necessary actions for self-defense in the face of this troubling security scenario, created by the dangerous anti-DPRK military collusion of the United States and its satellite forces. (…) Therefore, we send Washington a clear signal to act prudently to avoid catastrophic consequences,” Choe said.
