Chernishenko and his Cuban counterpart, Ricardo Cabrisas, co-chaired the 19th Intergovernmental Commission on Friday to discuss cooperation in economic-commercial and scientific-technical matters ahead of the next meeting of presidents Vladimir Putin and Miguel Díaz-Canel.
Energy is one of the key issues of bilateral cooperation, and joint projects, such as the increase in production at the Boca de Jaruco oil field,which will help reduce Cuba’s dependence on the import of crude oil and petroleum derivatives, Chernishenko stressed.
During the Commission, the parties discussed the expansion of trade, economic, credit, financial and banking cooperation, the implementation of priority projects in industry, science and digitization. Special attention was paid to transport logistics, as well as culture and sports.
The co-chairs of the Commission agreed to establish working groups for cooperation in construction and tourism fields, taking into account the importance of these areas for the development of bilateral relations.
