Russia describes suspension of its Paralympic Committee as unfounded

Moscow, Nov 17 (Prensa Latina) The International Paralympic Committee (IPC)'s decision to suspend the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) was described as unfounded and biased, Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin said on Thursday.

According to Matytsin, the IPC claimed an inability to comply with the conditions of membership, but not a single piece of evidence for its decision has been provided.

The IPC violates its principles, demonstrating that there is no equality. ‘We are not prepared to agree with the outright politicization of sports and continue to fight against discrimination against Russian athletes and the RPC,’ Matytsin stated.

On Wednesday, the IPC voted to suspend the RPC membership during a general assembly.

In its decision, it said that the RPC violated one of its membership obligations, as the statutes of that international organization establish, as well as the Olympic truce, though it did not produced hard evidence.
