The Costa Rican Government expects the legislators to approve the bond emission of six billion euros, with the objective, according to the Executive, of exchanging expensive debts for a cheap ones. Some lawmakers are in favor of authorizing half of that money because there are no anti-fraud controls.
The Government targets to approve them, has led to all kinds of situations in the Legislative, including the alleged offer of posts and embassies in exchange for the votes to approve the emission of Euro bonds.
The second head of the Broad Front party, Sofía Guillén, denounced in the Legislative Plenary on November 10, that Alexánder Barrantes, her colleague at the Social Democratic Progress Party (PPSD), offered her embassies and posts if she issued six billion euros in bonds.
This Tuesday, the Commission’s members must begin their work analyzing the 24 motions presented to the Executive’s proposal, among them to grant three billion euros in bonds only.
