Israeli air force fighter jets fired barrages of missiles from the airspace of neighboring Lebanon at the base and anti-aircraft defenses responded and intercepted some of the rockets, the Ikhbariya channel reported.
The military airport was targeted by a US strike with 59 cruise missiles on April 4, 2017.
Tel Aviv’s attacks against Syria this year have now totaled 28, the most recent being on October 27, causing material damage to some positions near Damascus.
Syria has urged the UN Security Council to issue a public condemnation of the constant Israeli aggressive actions that directly threaten regional and international peace and security.
It emphasized that these incursions by Tel Aviv open the door wide to further tension, escalation and chaos in the region.
