The demonstrators carried banners and chanted slogans in favor of protecting environment and also demanded actions from governments to combat global warming and pollution.
The protest mobilized young people, indigenous people, experts in the field, women’s organizations and other sectors of society, concerned about the environmental situation in the world.
“It’s time to act, no more empty promises, we only have one planet and climate justice for Africa,” was written in some banners.
The protesters voiced demands to rich countries for their breaches in terms of technology transfer and financing to less developed countries.
There were also chants of “Do not export climate chaos!”, “we demand the end of the use of fossil fuels!” and “we have not been defeated!”
The demonstrators ended the march in front of the convention center, where the official delegations are discussing the final declaration and agreements of the conference on climate change, under great differences between the developed world and the Third World, according to various reports.
