A communiqué from a legislative committee comes after government authorities announced on November 2 that national soldiers would join the East African Community Regional Force near the Congolese borders with Uganda.
Many sources stated that the cost for the operation of the Kenyan mission, based in the eastern Congolese city of Goma and previously approved by the Nairobi Parliament, is estimated at some 37 million dollars. It will be used for equipment and logistical supplies, among other purposes.
Colonel Tom Mwanga, one of the chiefs of the Kenyan Defense Forces, previously stated that the deployment of local troops in Democratic Congo is in response to an agreement reached at a meeting of heads of State of the region, held in Nairobi in June 2022.
