Havana, Nov 9 (Prensa Latina) Deputy Minister for Cultural Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Foreign Relations and International Cooperation, Omar Ghobash, traveled to Cuba to attend an important forum of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) that begins tomorrow.

The ACS is holding its 6th Conference on International Cooperation this November 10 and 11 in Havana under the theme “The Greater Caribbean, building bridges of transformation and innovation towards a future of sustainable progress”.

The objective of the event is to promote North-South, South-South and triangular collaboration around the strategic lines of the 2022-2028 Action Plan implemented by the ACS.

Likewise, the meeting will facilitate exchanges between representatives of ACS Member, Associate and Observer States, as well as other invited guests, in order to stimulate the mobilization of resources for development cooperation, generating regional projects towards new dynamics in the economic, social, cultural, environmental and technological-digital fields.

The United Arab Emirates has been an observer member of the ACS since 2017.

Ghobash heads his country’s delegation to the Caribbean event with the task, in addition, of further consolidating the solid relations that the UAE and Cuba are fostering.

His visit also serves as an opportunity to continue strengthening ties between the two countries by exploring more avenues of cooperation, especially in the economic and cultural fields, the Emirati Embassy told Prensa Latina.

As part of the official program in Cuba, the Deputy Minister will hold bilateral meetings at the Ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs, and will deliver a speech at the “Raúl Roa García” Higher Institute of International Relations.

In addition to his role as Deputy Minister, Ghobash is UAE Ambassador to the Vatican and responsible for the promotion of relations with the Caribbean and Central America.
