Panama, Nov 8 (Prensa Latina) Panamanian Professor Olmedo Beluche on Tuesday hailed the condemnation of the United States blockade against Cuba at the United Nations General Assembly and asserted that the empire was again alone with its lackey Israel.

In statements to Prensa Latina, the director of the Research Center of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Panama described the November 3 vote at the UN General Assembly as a victory for human rights and international law, as 185 member States voted in favor of a resolution that demands the end of that hostile policy.

Beluche, who also represents the Polo Ciudadano social organization in Panama, noted that Cuba’s victory over the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade belongs to all Latin America and the world.

The blockade has been aimed at crushing the brotherly people of Cuba for more than 60 years but without the expected results.

Washington’s opposition, he said, was only supported by Israel, a racist government that oppresses the Palestinian people and also fails to comply with resolutions approved by the multilateral organization.

In the case of abstentions, Volodymyr Zelensky’s Ukraine and Jair Bolsonaro’s Brazil showed the planet what they are and the interests they represent, Beluche said.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez stated that the blockade, tightened during the Donald Trump administration (2017-2021), seeks to inflict the greatest possible damage to Cuban families, is a cruel and inhuman measure, and is an act of economic war.
