Russian cosmonauts carry out experiments onboard the ISS

Moscow, Nov 3 (Prensa Latina) The Russian aerospace company Roscosmos reported that the cosmonauts of the International Space Station (ISS) are carrying out experiments that will help create materials from lunar soil.

According to the report, the task, headed by Russian space navigator Dimitri Petelin, consists in studying disperse systems and polymer solutions of a diverse nature in microgravity conditions with temperature changes and exposure to vibrations, electric and magnetic fields.

The obtained data will be used to create materials and structural elements in the implementation of the lunar program and the development of technological modes for obtaining and forming dispersed composite materials from the soil of the Moon.

The experiment, conducted by the Moscow Aviation Institute, is called “Scattering”, and scientists believe it will mark an important milestone in the development of cosmic research.

The Laser Systems joint-stock company manufactured the instruments designed for the tests, which, according to Roscosmos, will require some 20 test sessions during the ISS expedition.
