Venezuela again demands end to US blockade against Cuba

Venezuela-bloqueo-768x576
United Nations, Nov 2 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan Alternate Ambassador to the United Nations Joaquin Perez on Wednesday demanded the lifting of the United States blockade against Cuba, which he described as a failed policy.

Speaking at the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the diplomat reiterated Venezuela’s support and solidarity for the Cuban people and Government against the US genocidal blockade, which Washington has imposed on Cuba for more than 60 years.

Perez denounced “the illegal, criminal, cruel and inhuman nature” of the blockade against Cuba, which, he said, constitutes the main obstacle to the development of the Cuban people and whose effects are as destructive and lethal as those of any conventional war.

Official statistics show that in the first 14 months of the Joe Biden administration, the economic blockade caused Cuba losses worth 6.364 billion dollars at current prices.

The Venezuelan ambassador called for an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba, which in his opinion represents a crime against planetary diversity and an attack on the entire system of international relations.

This policy is intended to deny national sovereignty to the Cuban people, he stressed.

Perez pointed out that despite the measures of economic terrorism, Cuba continues to renew its humanist vocation, and its spirit of cooperation and selfless solidarity with all the peoples of the world.

The diplomat wondered how much more Cuba could give us if those failed measures that prevent it from fully developing its capacities and potential were lifted.
