French electricians promote solidarity with Cuba

Paris, Nov 2 (Prensa Latina) Bernard Martinez, president of the Cooperation and Solidarity Committee of Electricians and Gas Workers (CCSEG), stressed on Wednesday, the support of the French electricians towards their colleagues in Cuba and the interest in strengthening ties.

We have a more-than-20-year relationship, which included the twinning between French cities and Cuban provinces, ties that we intend to strengthen in current times, said the CCSEG president in a conversation held with Prensa Latina.

According to Martinez, the aim is to revitalize from the Federation of Energy and Mines at the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), the bonds of friendship and solidarity with the Caribbean nation, particularly its electricians, in a scenario marked by the tightening of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade.

CCSEG is working in that direction in the southern French region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur in plan that includes projects and donations related to Cienfuego´s province, stated Martinez, who is also a member of the Cuba Cooperation France Association (CubaCoop).

Martinez also highlighted the contribution by the CGT’s Energy and Mines union to the national initiative “Containers for Cuba,” which allowed them to collect more than 200,000 euros to send three containers to the island with food and essential items this year.
